Our specialist Chinese antiques sales catalogues are available online about two weeks before the sale.

 

Online Viewing

All our auctions are on view at least two days prior to the sale.

 

Condition Reports

We are happy to give condition reports on all items available for sale. All measurements are measured, but approximate. Image colour and quality is not necessarily completely accurate.

 

How to Register Bid at our Action

All buyers must register with us before they can buy at our sales. Once your registration is complete, you will be given a permanent buying number which can be used in all future sales.

 

Please remember to provide photo identification when registering with us.

Your passport or driving license and a proof of name and home address.

You can register by contacting us via phone or email found on our contact page.

 

Leaving a Commission Bid

If you are unable to attend our auction either in person or online, you may leave a bid, which will be passed onto our sale auctioneer. Please be reminded to make sure you are registered with us before leaving commission bids.

 

Telephone Bidding

It is possible to bid over the phone during a live auction. As above, make sure your registered then let us know which item you would like to bid on before the sale is on.

 

Buyer’s Premium

Each lot bought is subjected to a buyer’s premium of 20% + VAT on the first £500,000 of the hammer price. A 10% charge + VAT for any lot sold over £500,000. VAT – All lots bought are subject to a VAT charge.

 

Payment and Clearance

Payment is due immediately after the auction in pounds sterling. If you are a first-time buyer we will need your name, address and bank details and will require funds to be cleared before purchases can be released.

 

The following methods of payment are accepted:
Bank transfer, Cheque, Debit and Credit cards and cash which is no more than 10,000 Euros equivalent per invoice.

 

Shipping Purchases 

We do offer in-house packing and shipping to UK and international addresses on majority of items which are not overly large or fragile. Please feel free to call or email us to get a quote or arrange packing and shipping on your items! 

 

We ship items in well-packed boxes with sufficient packing and protection. Although we do our best in packing items, we cannot add insurance for any loss or damages. We use next day tracked courier services for UK shipments. If you do need to add insurance cover then please contact a third-party shipping company.

Selling at Ma San Auction

 

Before the auction:
You will receive notification of the lot numbers of your property and a complimentary illustrated catalogue, usually about two weeks before the sale. You are of course welcome to come to the view or attend the auction if you wish.

 

Selling Charges

A standard commission charge of 12% + VAT will be added to lots sold with us.
Free valuations are offered on your items. Please look at our Valuations tab for more information.

 

The reserve price

We usually recommend that your goods are sold at the auctioneers’ discretion, which gives us a 10% leeway on the lower estimate printed in the catalogue. Alternatively, we are happy to agree a fixed reserve price below which we will not sell.

 

Settlement

Settlement will be made usually within 4 weeks of the sale. Subject to normal business conditions and the speed of payment from the buyer.
Insurance is charged at 1.5% (+ VAT) of hammer price.
