Our Buying Methods

Sales & Catalogues

Our specialist Chinese antiques sales catalogues are available online about two weeks before the sale.

Online Viewing

All our auctions are on view at least two days prior to the sale.

Condition Reports

We are happy to give condition reports on all items available for sale. All measurements are as accurate as possible, but approximate. Image colour and quality is not necessarily completely accurate.

Telephone Bidding

It is possible to bid over the phone during a live auction. As above, make sure your registered then let us know which item you would like to bid on before the sale is on.

Our Selling Methods

Before the auction:
You will receive notification of your the lot numbers of your property usually two weeks before the sale with full details and illustrations. You can watch and follow the auction live online.

Selling Charges

A standard commission charge of 15%+VAT will be added to lots sold with us.
Free valuations are offered on your items. Please look at our Valuations tab for more information.

An additional £5+VAT lotting fee will be charged per lot sold.

There are no charges for unsold items.

The reserve price

We usually recommend that your goods are sold at the auctioneers’ discretion, which gives us a 10% leeway on the lower estimate printed in the catalogue. Alternatively, we are happy to agree a fixed reserve price below which we will not sell.

Settlement

Settlement will be usually within 4 weeks of the sale. Subject to normal business conditions and the speed of payment from the buyer.
Insurance is charged at 1.5% (+ VAT) of hammer price.

How to register big at our auction

All buyers must register with us before they can buy at our sales. Once the registration is complete, you will be given a bidder number. You can then bid live or leave absentee bids leading up to the sale.

We may request a copy of our identification whether it be a passport or driving licence and a proof of name and residential address.

Shipping purchases

We do offer in-house packing and shipping to UK and international addresses on majority of items which are not overly large or fragile. Please feel free to contact us via call, email us or get a quote to arrange packing and shipping on your items.

We ship items in well-packed boxes with sufficient packing and protection. Although we do our best in packing items, we cannot add insurance for any loss or damages. We use next day tracked courier services for UK shipments. If you do need to add insurance cover then please contact a third-party shipping company.
