Lot 162:
A CHINESE PAINTED POTTERY FIGURE OF COURT LADY, TANG DYNASTY (AD 618-907). Modelled standing wearing a long flowing robe, her coiffured hair high on her head, her features picked out in black and robe in red, with her arms in front of her chest, on a shaped base. 33cm high. Provenance: Property of a Lancashire family.
With remnants of black paint to the face, hair and red to the robe, lacking hands with retouching and restoration to sleeves, some overall white retouching to the body and neck, the neck is probably cracked and restored and there are cracks around the lower part of her robe where she has been restuck at these points with associated overpainting. There are a series of cracks around her robe and shoulders. Typical surface wear and deterioration commensurate with age and type.
