A CHINESE PAINTED POTTERY FIGURE OF COURT LADY, TANG DYNASTY (AD 618-907). Modelled standing wearing a long flowing robe, her coiffured hair worn high to one side and her features picked out in black, her hands clasped to her chest, on a shaped base. 32 cm high. Provenance: Property of a Lancashire family.
Overall in good order with no obvious signs of restoration under UV light. Some remnants of black, red and green original paint visible. Noticeable surface flaking and losses, some overall surface cracking and wear commensurate with age and type. Minor chipping to base.
