A LARGE CHINESE GREEN-GLAZED BUDDHIST JAR, SONG/YUAN DYNASTY. Heavily-potted with both cover and jar decorated with various moulded and applied Buddhist emblems. The inner and outer surfaces coated in a streaky green glaze with silvery iridescence in places. 36m tall. 12th – 14th Century. Provenance: From the collection of the late Brian Page (1938 – 2018), the well-known Oriental art collector and dealer.
A repaired break to the cover with a 2cm chip on the rim of the cover. A small 2 cm chip to the jar glazing. Minor loss to the base of the interior. Surface wear throughout as expected with age.
