A LARGE CHINESE NEOLITHIC PAINTED MAJIAYAO TYPE POTTERY JAR, YANGSHAO CULTURE, MACHANG PHASE (2300BC-2000BC). The broad baluster body with two looped handles, tapered foot and short wide neck leading into a gently everted rim. Painted to the upper section with four medallions on geometric pattern. Approx. 45cm width including handles. 35.5cm height.
