LARGE JAPANESE SIGNED IVORY OKIMONO OF A POMEGRANATE SELLER, MEIJI PERIOD. The sectional figure stood with a woven basket over his shoulder, wearing straw sandals and a tenugui over his head. Passing a fruit in his left hand with a stick of bamboo holding a fruit branch. A bag fastened to his waist holding a smoking pipe on circular base with carved wooden display stand. Signed to base. Ivory figure height without stand 32.5cm. Weight 1208 grams. Total height with stand approx. 36.5cm.
The basket strap to the back side replaced with string. Very small loss to tip of one fruit leaves on top of basket.
