A Chinese compressed tea-brick, circa 1900. The rectangular tea brick with raised Chinese characters reading Xintaiji – Possibly from the Hankou, Xintai tea brick factory established in Wuhan, 1866 for export through Sino-Russian trade routes. 32cm x 14.5cm, 1610 grams / 56.5oz
